Georges "RUSH" St-Pierre

April 9, 2008 - Montreal Quebec, CA

10 days out from GSP fighting Matt Serra for the Welterweight title at UFC 83 in Montreal Canada,

I watched GSP practice karate as a cool down after his training at Grant’s Gym and I asked about it. He explained to me that Kyokushin Karate was his first martial art discipline and at the time he held the rank of 3rdDan black belt

That gave me the idea of photographing him in his Karate Gi to create an image that was stand the test of time and pay a homage to his roots.

I knew that creating this portrait portrait would also resonate with the millions of people around the world who loved and probably started with karate as their first martial art.

GSP, he was always calm, always nice until the cage door closed and then he transforms into a relentless fighting machine

The portrait could not be aggressive or it wouldn’t work.  it needed to be relatable, powerful, implement his classic headband and be a reminder of the tenets of martial arts.

This is a Limited Edition Giclée on cotton fiber paper. /  Edition Size is limited to 72 pieces.

The image Size is "16x20" / Approximate framed size “24 x 28”

Artwork will be signed by photographer Eric Williams.
